NK Varaždin are in the spotlight due to a humanitarian action for Omiš and the confirmation of a new signing in goal. The club this week donated €10,000 to the Omiš Voluntary Fire Department and has also officially presented former Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie.

NK Varaždin allocated all ticket revenue from the recent match against Rudeš to aid the fire-stricken Omiš area. The club topped up the amount, with the final donation totalling €10,000. The action was supported by former Croatia national team coach Zlatko Dalić, who purchased one hundred tickets.

Head coach and sporting director Nikola Šafarić noted the club is pleased with its league position. "People didn't expect us to be this high up. It's nice to work after a win," Šafarić said. Varaždin currently shares the top of the SuperSport HNL with Osijek, both on 12 points.

Scottish goalkeeper Robby McCrorie has signed a two-year contract with NK Varaždin following a spell with Danish side Esbjerg. McCrorie said his first impressions of the club were excellent. "There is a family atmosphere at the club, everyone gives their all and I believe Varaždin is the right choice for me," said the new goalkeeper.

McCrorie arrives with experience in Scottish football and will become only the second Scot to play in the Croatian top flight. He emphasised the club is ambitious and will give his maximum to help achieve its goals.

Varaždin beat Rudeš 2-0 in the fifth round at the Stadion Varteks. The hosts dominated but only found the net late on. Ivan Latković scored the first in the 72nd minute, with Dario Canjuga adding a second six minutes from time.

Ivan Mamut missed a penalty in the 64th minute, hitting the post. The victory gave Varaždin 12 points from five rounds and the league lead. Coach Šafarić expects better attendance for the upcoming match against Istra 1961. The club now prepares for that fixture scheduled for Friday evening.

Alongside McCrorie's arrival, the club faces certain challenges. Roberto Punčec has an injury issue, and paperwork is being sorted for Ivan Mamut's transfer to Indonesia. Despite this, morale in the camp is high following the strong start to the season.

The next home match against Istra 1961 is scheduled for September 4th at the Stadion Varteks.
