Three NK Varaždin players receive national team call-ups

Three NK Varaždin players have received call-ups to their national teams. Ivan Canjuga has been called up to the Croatia under-21 side, while Aleksa Latković and Mario Mladenovski will join the senior squads of Montenegro and North Macedonia, respectively.

Ivan Canjuga, the team's top scorer this season with three goals in eight appearances, will join the Croatia U-21s for three European Championship qualifiers. Aleksa Latković is set to feature for Montenegro in four Nations League matches. Mario Mladenovski will also play four Nations League games for North Macedonia during the international break.

What it means for Varaždin

The call-ups serve as recognition for the strong collective form of a team sitting fourth in the HNL table with 15 points. Head coach Nikola Šafarić can take pride in his players earning international recognition. The team is unbeaten in its last five matches, and its key performers will now gain valuable experience at a higher level.

Following the international break, which runs until 9 October, Varaždin will return to action with an away match against Lokomotiva in Zagreb.
